This mural highlights the automotive and racing history of the building and area, as the block is being redeveloped and rebranded as "The Engine Block". The piece combines symbolism, pattern, and specific historic references to help create a meaningful mythology for residents. The racecar POV panel depicts winged sprint cars racing on a circular track, a sport that was very popular in Salt Lake City at the nearby fairgrounds. The purple car is an iconic vehicle called "Frankenstein" built in SLC for high-speed records on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The engine line drawing on the dark grey section is an interpretation of the 1989 Dodge Ram Cummins diesel motor.
