Scope of Work
The Challenge
HODL DAO is a startup incubator and association of like-minded software engineers and business developers, that stakes into individual companies to bring products to market. In the competitive and saturated market of blockchain companies during the 2021 crypto-craze, HODL needed a memorable design to position themselves. They also needed a bespoke web application that could interface with various blockchains to handle distribution and staking of their ERC-223 HODL Token.
My Solution
When I was introduced onto the project, HODL DAO was just a group of developers and a collection of GitHub repositories and Google documents. I worked with the team to identify their market position, target audience, and a visual direction. I went on to create their brand identity from scratch, including a logo package, style guide, manifesto document, and website design.
I then worked closely with 3 developers to build the website and develop the token distribution dApp. Instead of using a 3rd party launch platform, HODL DAO wanted to develop their own application for maximum longevity and independence. As blockchain technology is new, users are often subject to poor UX and an unnecessary exposure to technical details. It was my goal to simplify the UI as much as possible, and create a UX that was pleasant, smooth, and memorable. For those that want more technical details, the UI offers an about page, transaction history, and links to an Ethereum blockchain explorer.
In the end, the token launch went off without a hitch. The team was able to start raising capital and the dApp is setup for future expansion of features, including staking and derivative asset generation.
